WHAT IS MUSIC EDUCATION?
This major is part of the Education Exploration Group
Prospective music educators initially enroll in the School of Fine Arts. The Music Education Program prepares students to teach music from pre-K-12 and direct bands, orchestras, and choruses. Students complete general education requirements, a 36-credit subject area major, and required courses in professional education.
HOW TO DECLARE:
APPLICATION REQUIRED. Applicants MUST complete 54 credits of undergraduate coursework by the end of the spring semester prior to their official admission to the program. Strong GPA and interview required. Find more information and the application here.
AUDITION. Auditions are typically held twice a year (once in December for spring admission and several dates in early spring for fall admission). Audition requirements can be found here. You can schedule an audition here.
