The field of pharmacy offers rewarding opportunities in all fields of health care and medical research in both staff and management positions. Regardless of experience or practice setting, pharmacists share a collective purpose of making sure that patients use medications as effectively and safely as possible.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.)  in Pharmacy Studies is awarded while following the course of study for the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)  degree. The baccalaureate degree, without completion of the Doctor of Pharmacy degree, does not qualify students to sit for the licensure exam.

To practice as a pharmacist, students complete two years of pre-pharmacy and four in the professional program.  The NAPLEX test is required post graduation for licensure.

As with all health care professions, there are continuing education requirements during one’s career, with an emphasis on drug information, patient education, and consultation services. Pharmacists complete a minimum number of continuing-education units each year to qualify for re-licensure. Most continuing education is offered online.
